Using Tags in goal setting allows for efficient categorisation, organisation, and easy retrieval of goals based on specific themes, projects, or attributes.
You can enable tags in Mesh while creating or editing a goal (objective or key result).
Note: Mesh allows Admins to set custom names for objectives and key results. Hence, your company may have set a different nomenclature for objectives (such as “perspectives”, “goals” etc.) defined according to the company’s goal setting methodology. You can refer to this article to know more about setting customized goal setting methodologies on Mesh.
Tag management during goal creation
Let us consider that we wish to tag an objective while creation. The same steps can be replicated to manage tags while creating a key result.
Adding an existing tag to an objective
To add tags while creating an objective;
Step 1: In the Add objective panel, select Change Details. The "Add Objective" panel should extend into a secondary panel containing a list of fields.
Step 2: Click on the + Add Tag button in front of the Tags field.
Step 3: You can see a list of tags here. Select one or more tags to add to your objective. You can also search for a tag using the search bar at the top.
Step 4: Click on Apply.
Step 5: You can see the selected tag added in the list corresponding to the Tags field. Click on Save to save changes to your objective.
The tag would be added to your objective.
Modifying tags while adding them to an objective
Note: Certain functionalities of this feature may be limited depending on the access control settings set by your company. Visit this article to know more about access control in Mesh.
To add tags while adding them to an objective,
Step 1: In the Other Details screen, click on the Tags field. A dropdown will open that contains the list of tags that can be added to the objective. You can also search for a tag in case the list is too long.
Step 2: In case you do not find your tag in the list on searching, click on the Add tag button to add it to the list of tags being used by the company.
The tag will be created and selected automatically for the particular goal.
To create multiple tags together, you can click on the Edit Tags button beside the search bar. The list of tags created by members of your company would be populated in the extended panel.
To add another tag to the list, click on Add tags.
Provide a name to your tag, and click on the Tick mark corresponding to the field.
You can create multiple tags at once on this screen. Click on the Close button once done.
Step 4: Select the tags you wish to add to the goal and click on Apply.
Step 5: You can see the selected tag added in the list corresponding to the Tags field. Click on Save to save changes to your objective.
The tag would be added to your objective.
To modify an existing tag while creating an objective

Step 3: To modify a tag, click on the tag and change the name to a desired one. For instance, the user here changes the tag called “Finance” to “Customer Success”. Do note that editing a tag will update it in all places where it has been used.
Click on the Tick mark to save changes to the tag key. Your tag would be modified, and you can use it as per your requirement.
Deleting a tag
At times, your company may face the issue of an excess of tags, resulting in clutter and requiring a deletion of unnecessary tags.

The tag would be deleted from all places where it is being used.
Tag Management while viewing/editing an already created goal
You can also create, modify or delete tags while viewing a goal (objective or key result).
To access the tag management screen while viewing a goal:
Step 1: Select the goal you wish to view by clicking on it on the Goals Homepage.
