Creating your own goal-setting framework
Step 1: Select the Goals module from the Performance tab on the homepage.
Step 2: Select Preferences under the "Goal Settings" section at the bottom left corner of the screen.
Step 3: You will now be able to see a list of templates that you can use to select your Goal-setting methodology under the "Goal Setting Methodologies" section.
Step 4: You will see a title for your framework by default. We recommend you change it to better describe your framework.
Step 5: The creation process is divided into five sections for easier segregation.
- Display Name
This section allows you to customize the names set for the Goals module, objectives and key results. You can rename each entity to one that suits your company’s processes the best, and changes would be auto-reflected across the platform, the Slack app and in all user notifications.
- How to Cascade
Set up rules around the cascading of goals in your framework. You can enable or disable the ability to create cascading goals for users in your company, toggle between different objective types (read more about objective types here) and enable or disable your teammates to create goals without a parent.
- Default Visibility
Set the default visibility for your objectives and key results.
-
Public: The objective or key result is visible to the entire organization.
- Private: The objective or key result is visible only to the Owner, Collaborator and their respective Managers.
-
- How to calculate Progress
Mesh allows you to customize the way you define and calculate progress for your goals.
- Access Control
Control the access to key important actions, such as creating goals, viewing and editing goals and interacting with insights on goals in Mesh with this section.A detailed explanation of the Access control matrix can be found here.
